Thematic Project

Creativity in the Context Of Multimedia University

1st step : We have to sketched the Logical Mind Map.

Next is our focus point : Creative Communication in Multimedia University (MMU)

2nd step :
After we have done our mind mapping we have decided to use metaphor which was using two nouns to compare or contrast them to one another. Then, we came out with the design concept
"See Things in Different Ways"

Before we progressed our essay we have discussed the three main objects that we think was related to creative communication for instance Pen, Flower and Camera.

3rd step : Then, we did write an essay that consisted of 955 words.

4rd step : This is the FINAL step where we have shoot a video for our presentation and before we completed the video we have done a storyboard for making this video.

Here's the video! hope you guys enjoy it..=)

Random Word/Image Association

Random Association is an idea generation method which allows students to systematically generate new ideas through a fixed formula. The whole premise of Random Association is to use a Random Word to provoke a reaction from the brain.

Scary Cat

In class, we were given a task to draw a scary image or picture that will instill fear among people trough out the ages. The drawing Images must be a part of the cat or kitten body , such as the eye , claw , nail , ears and others. Its all depends to ourselves which part is we think that is scary the most.

Cute Cat

The Blood Eye - Using Photoshop

Cats will raise their back to make them look bigger, their fur will stand up and they may hiss and become tense, watching everything. Their eyes will become large. I think the eye part is the most scary because the cat have a vertical line on the eye. View of the sharp eyes able to see in a very bad condition. Their vision are very useful for hunting prey.

Juxtaposition - Part 2

1st Excercise

In class, lecturer continue the topic 'juxtaposition'. Same with last week, lecturer ask us to combine two things to create a new thing. Then, we have to choose 2 pictures combination of strange animal that impossible to be happen in life. Below are some picture which make us understand what is "how mergers go wrong".

Combination of chimpanzee & sea lion

Combination of Chicken & Crab

Combination of grasshoper & fish

2nd Excercise

On this excercise, lecturer want us to write a poem/statement to describe the concept to each picture.

Love - Chili
Love is like chili,
The red color of chili is symbol of love,
It taste so good in food when we met someone special in life,
The spicy of chili it can make our feeling hurt,
Choosing the two different color of chili to make us choose the right one,
If u choose the wrong one you will suffer in relationship of love.

Man & Women - Mortar & Pestle
Women are just like mortar with full of passion,
Pestle are physically shows that man strong enough,
Both are important just like man & women,
They need each other, without them theres no new generation.

Happiness - Time
Happiness is like time of gold,
When we forget the happiness memory,
Time will pass through and not will turn around,
Treasure the happiness moment or vice versa, you will regret.

Light - Life
Light is so bright,
Light shines in the sky,
People can't live in the darkness,
We need light all around the world,
We use light for everything,
Without light our lives are not perfect.

Juxtaposition - Part 1

What is Juxtaposition?

A placing or being placed in nearness or contiguity, or side by side; as, a juxtaposition of words.

2 types of Analogy
  • Metaphor
  • simile
Metaphor

Metaphor is when you use two nouns and compare them to one another. Unlike simile, you don't use "like" or "as" in the comparison. Ex: "Life is just a bowl of cherries."

Simile

A comparison between two objects using the words "like" or "as". Ex: She was as mad as a rabid dog.

In class, lecturer has give us something that very funny and creative things to do. Then he want us choose 3 number from 0-99. After that, he show 2 list of things to us and want us combine it with the number that we choose. So, the number that i choose is 10, 60 and 07.and the list that the lecturer give us is :

My WORDS that i choose is Flower Head, Duck Tree and Fly Tree. After that, lecturer want us make a sentences with these words and draw a picture for it.

10- Flower Head
60- Duck Tree
07- Fly Tree

Exercise 1 :

We have to create a sentence using the the random words.

1. I always used flower clip on my hair.
2. why those ducks rove through the large tree?
3. The birds fly over the tree.

Exercise2 :
We have to visualize our sentences.

Exercise 3 :
We have to create a new word by combining the two words together and create and illustrate the image or it.

1. Flowerhead
2. Ducktree
3. Flytree

Associated Mind Mapping

There are 2 types of Mind Mapping :
  • Logical Mind Map
  • Associated Mind Map

Logical Mind Map

The logical Mind Map is directly connected to stereotypes. The logical Mind Map comproses solely stereotypes word. Which means that every word or image that is put within the mind map is directly related to the central subject through its link.

Associated Mind Map

Using an Associated Mind Map we are able to generate random words and also show the link between words that seemingly have no connection.

In the class, we have to make the sentence by using the words 'Mortar & Pestle' which i think is not related at all.

Mortar & Pestle

After that, we have to pick 3 words to make the sentence, the word that i choose is :

Beach

Imagine mortar & pestle as the coconut tree. How does it taste when you drink mortar as a coconut? isn't that tasty.

Hair

combine mortar & pestle into hair dryer

Sun

We could used mortar & pestle as umbrella

Mind Mapping

What is your most difficult task in life?
Were you ever taught how to optimized your brainpower? Do you know about Tony Buzan Mind Map? Some people love to learn. Are you one of them?

Basically mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks or other items linked to and arranged radically around a central key word or idea.

Benefit and Uses

Learning
• Reduce those 'tons of work’
• Feel good about study, revision and exams.
• Have confidence in your learning abilities

Concentrating
• Focus on the task for better results
• Using all your cortical skills attracts your attention

Memorising

• Easy recall
• 'See' the information in your mind's eye

Negotiating
• All issues, your position and maneuverability on one sheet.

Brain Blooming
• The new brain-storming in which more thoughts are generated and appropriately assessed.

7 steps to Making a Mind Map

• Start in the CENTRE of a blank page turned sideways.

• Use an IMAGE or PICTURE for your central idea.

• Use COLOURS throughout because colours are as exciting to your brain as are images.

CONNECT your MAIN BRANCHES to the central image and connect your second- and third-level branches to the first and second levels, etc.

• Make your branches CURVED rather than straight-lined.

• Use ONE KEY WORD PER LINE because single key words give your Mind Map more power and flexibility.

• Use IMAGES throughout because each image, like the central image, is also worth a thousand words. So if you have only 10 images in your Mind Map, it's already the equal of 10,000 words of notes.

Novelty, Creativity , Innovation & Invention

Novelty

According to Wikepedia novelty is derived from Latin word novem for "new" is the quality of being new. Although it may be said to have an objective dimension example a new style of art coming into being, such as abstract art or impressionism it essentially exists in the subjective perceptions of individuals. From what i understand i defined novelty as something fresh material created according to creativity. Below are some picture which make us understand more about novelty.

USB Pendrive

Pen

Creativity

Creativity is a variety of perspectives and is important in numerous contexts. For me creativity is the ability to think up and design new ideas and concepts. It also mean that the creative imagination is embodied in fantasies or daydreams. Creativity is also defined as the tendency to generate or recognize ideas or possibilities that may be useful in solving problems, communicating with others, and entertaining ourselves and others. Produce more art work with very super multi talented and fresh idea. We can also create a new idea based on the original sources such as text book, magazine and novels. Creativity is also has been associated with right or forehead brain activity or even specifically with lateral thinking. Creativity is a critical aspect in a person's life, starting from inside the womb and onward.

Innovation

Innovation is the new idea that which is still including the previous concept but it has been improve to a better than previous things in some way. Such as Television, it has progressed from the mechanical, from black and white to color, and now is digital.

Innovation is important in pur life; because of it only we can improve the quality of our life. Without innovation we can't use mobile phone in anytime and any where and we only can use the traditional phone which is big and heavy that only use in a house. Beside of this, we have no chance to watch video through computer/laptop, using LCD screen, color television, we still have to watch the blank and white color television. We can see that Innovation play an important role in our life.

Old Computer

New Computer

Invention

Invention is the act of inventing a new device or method and develops something from study and experimentation. Such as, Thomas Alva Edison invented the electric light bulb. Invention also is improving the quality of our life, but it is totally new, new concept, new idea and not improves from the origin item.

Introduction to Creative Studies

What is Creativity?

"To be creative you have to contribute something different from what you've done before. Your results need not be original to the world; few results truly meet that criterion. In fact, most results are built on the work of others."(Lynne C. Levesque)

According to Wikipedia creativity is a mental and social process involving the discovery of new ideas or concepts, or new associations of the creative mind between existing ideas or concepts. Creativity is fueled by the process of either conscious or unconscious insight. An alternative conception of creativeness (based on its etymology) is that it is simply the act of making something new. What i understand in learning creative studies is being creative is something that you do when you engage in the act of making something. From this class, i hope i can learn more about creative or something unique so that i can benefit what has been learned.

Here, i want to share with all of you the video of creativity. I hope what has been delivered in this video be able to benefit us.
